At Puratos, we recognise that the demand for certain raw materials can put pressure on natural habitats and the livelihoods of local communities. We are committed to building a resilient value chain that ensures traceability, transparency, and integrity across the materials we source.
Our approach to fruit sourcing
Through our Field to Fork program, we move beyond compliance to active value creation. By collaborating directly with farmers and cooperatives, we directly support transition to sustainable practices, and secure a long-term supply of high-quality, pesticide-compliant fruit.
Ethical trade and human rights
The protection of human rights is a core Puratos value and sits at the heart of our sourcing decisions. We ask all our suppliers to adhere to our Supplier Code of Conduct, ensuring fair working conditions and zero tolerance for forced or child labour.
Through our memberships, including our partnership with Sedex, we enhance supply chain transparency and perform rigorous due diligence to identify and address ethical risks globally.
Sustainable cocoa and Cacao-Trace™
Our Cacao-Trace™ program transforms the cocoa supply chain by combining professional fermentation with a Chocolate Bonus paid directly back to farmers, increasing their income.
By 2030, we aim for 100% sustainable cocoa sourcing, with half of our volume coming from Cacao-Trace. Through Belcolade and the Beyond Chocolate initiative, we are also committed to ensuring a living income for farmers and eliminating cocoa-related deforestation.
Sustainable palm oil
We are committed to ensuring that our use of palm oil does not contribute to deforestation or the loss of biodiversity. All of our palm ingredients now support sustainable palm oil production. Our ongoing goals include achieving RSPO certification for every production site that purchases palm oil and securing RSPO distribution licenses for all our distributing sites.
Responsible egg sourcing
We recognise that animal welfare is a fundamental responsibility within the food system and are actively driving the transition to cage-free sourcing across our global supply chain.
By innovating egg-reducing and egg-replacing solutions, we help our customers lower their reliance on animal-based ingredients and impact the broader industry, driving market-wide progress without compromising on quality or performance.
Regenerative agriculture
The health of our planet starts with the health of our soil. We support regenerative agriculture, an outcome-based farming framework that protects soil health, increases biodiversity, and improves water management.
Through close collaboration with local farmers, including partnerships within the UK, we implement practices like cover cropping and reduced tillage. These efforts secure a more resilient supply of grains while actively reducing the carbon footprint of the flour used in your bakery and patisserie products.
Our 2030 commitments
- 100% of Puratos Group cocoa ingredients will be sourced sustainably through certified programs like Cacao-Trace™
- 50% of our global flour volumes will support the transition to regenerative agriculture
- 100% of our fruit supply will meet our strict Fruit Pesticide Policy

- We commit to planting 3.4 million trees to restore biodiversity and sequester carbon
